BKI EventsBKI KIDS Summer 2010 Cooking ClassesThe Battenkill Kitchen is excited to announce it has completed cooking classes with children attending Salem’s Lunch, Learn & Play for 6 weeks during the summer. The kitchen was a buzz with students ranging from Kindergarten to grade 6. The classes provided 40-70 children each week, the opportunity to create dishes highlighting items harvested from the Courthouse Community Garden and other local products. With the help of some volunteer chefs from across New York State and our treasured, local volunteers, the children were able to create healthy and delicious dishes: Spanikopita, Roasted Zucchini Dip, Raspberry Dipping Sauce, Homemade Pasta with Pesto, Pappardelle of Zucchini Salad, Corn Casserole, Mexican Bean Dip, Dutch Baby with fresh Berries. Each participant created a BKI KIDS Recipe Book, so they can recreate some of these treats for their families. Check out our workshops and classes for some of the great programs BKI has to offer |
